Linux Leaders Plot Counterattack on Microsoft

"The high priests of free software have congregated at Google Inc. headquarters this week to debate the future of the movement and face down recent patent threats by Microsoft Corp."

"Recently, Microsoft has sown dissension by claiming open source programs such as Linux violate 235 of its patents while striking deals to insulate the customers of two Linux suppliers—Novell and Xandros—from patent lawsuits."

"... most believe Linux users control their own destinies and Microsoft's patent threats are just the latest attempts to create "fear, uncertainty and doubt" among customers. After closed-down sessions Thursday and Friday, the group aims to issue a consensus statement next week on what they plan to do."

"There are as many as 360 rival flavors of Linux, known as distributions, according to Distrowatch.com. This factionalism fuels rapid innovation but splits the energies of developers."

Chavez refuses to renew license of TV station that supported military coup

http://english.ohmynews.com/articleview/article_view.asp?no=363833&rel_no=1

One more time Chavez is doing whatever he wants in Venezuela. Seriously, this is just another reason to not travel to such a beautiful country.

Thanks.

I am the BUG in your EYE

United States presidential election, 2008

Hi,

This time, the first of all my blogs ever, the posting has to be a political one. But this place on the web is not only for politics and things like this. My intention is to cover everything I(we) am interested in. In any case, lets go to the point.

To whoever is reading this. Please, if you are capable of voting in the upcoming presidential elections, DO IT. Just do it consciously, spend some of your time and read at least a little bit about every single candidate. It is not important where you are (republican, democrat, etc), just do it knowing why. If you don't know where to start, here I have a little link for you:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election%2C_2008

Over all, remember your VOTE affects other people besides YOU, it affects your children, your neighbours, your friends and every single person living in USA (legal or ilegal). But this time it also affects the whole planet, the third rock from the sun, by the future policies of the administration in the most powerful country of the planet will take.

THANK YOU for reading this blog.
