Poor Persecuted Muslims

I got this in my e-mail a few days ago... I think there is some truth after all in all the statements, but I don't think ALL the Muslims should be responsible for a (I hope) few bad apples... in any case, the catholics don't have a clean history either, don't you think?

L. Some Muslims force women to wear hideous sacks, stone to death women for getting raped and for leaving the home unescorted, engage in honor killings of sisters and daughters for unapproved dating, and.................. expect no criticism.
M. Some Muslims danced in the streets and handed out sweets to their kids to celebrate the 9/11 atrocity, and................... still expected no criticism.
N. Since 9/11 some Muslims have killed over 26,000 and wounded over 50,000 in terrorist attacks worldwide since 9/11 and................... expect no criticism.
O. Since 9/11 some Muslims have committed terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Chad, Chechnya, Dagestan, Denmark, East Timor, Egypt, England, Eritrea, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ingushetia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Jordan-Iraq, Kabardino-Balkans, Kenya, Kosovo,Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Gaza-Palestinian Authority, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Somalia, Spain, Sri Lanka , Sudan , Syria , Tajikistan, Thailand , Tunisia , Turkey , United Arab Emirates, United Arab Republic , United States , Uzbekistan and Yemen, and......................... STILL expect no criticism.
P. Some Muslims have carried out over 5,800 fatal terrorist atrocities since 9/11 and countless thousands since Islamic conquest began in 623 AD and expect no criticism.
Q. But if a Pope dares to tell the truth about Islam or Danes publish cartoons about Mohammed, then let the outpourings of Islamic hate and outrage begin.
R. And, by some twisted reach of logic, the arrogant bastards demand the Pope issue an apology.

It also came with lots of cartoons making fun of the Muslims, but at this moment I don't think we should contribute to hate each other, we should be more tolerant with our neighbors, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't speak out when something is wrong, right?

Denzel Washington at Brooks Army Medical Center

Don't know whether you heard about this, but Denzel Washington and his family visited the troops at Brook Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, Texas (BAMC) the other day. This is where soldiers who have been evacuated from Germany come to be hospitalized in the United States , especially burn victims. There are some buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher House is a Hotel where soldiers' families ca n stay, for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying in the Hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses on base, but as you can imagine, they are filled most of the time.

While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build. He took his checkbook out and wrote a check for the full amount right there on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this story and want to get the word out to the American public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it.

The question is - why do Brad Pitt, Madonna, Tom Cruise and other Hollywood fluff make front page news with their ridiculous antics and Denzel Washington's Patriotism doesn't even make page 3 in the Metro section of any newspaper except the local newspaper in San Antonio?

Don't tell anybody or everyone will be doing it

I was reading the article "7 headaches - and how to fix them" published in Popular Mechanics and written by Jamie Hyneman, the guy from the TV show MythBusters, and I found the following affirmations I do believe are worthed to be posted here.

The best of any of the reader comments I spent time reading says... "Jamie, you have my sympathies, but so do the engineers who are forced but our market-driven society to create items that are incomplete as stand alones, too complex to fix yourself, or include far too many 'extras' to be easily used. My solution is this: become better consumers folks."

Finally, where can I find that "LED flashlight called the Fenix that puts out 1 watt, uses a single AA battery and lasts for months of use" that Jamie mentioned? Maybe, this is the one he is talking about.

Net Neutrality == Save the Internet

Do you like the way Internet works for you today? Isn't great you can surf to anywhere without restrictions? What about reading, viewing and playing whatever you like without asking permission to anybody else or even paying extra?

Well, these are the questions I asked myself lately when I realized my current Internet provider is against Net Neutrality... WHAT???

Yes, the 3 big ISP are at different levels against Net Neutrality. So, I started to research about it and I found that information in the great web page SaveTheInternet.com.

The Power of Servant Leadership

The other day I received the company's news via e-mail, you know, that list of news about your employer and other fellow workers... usually very boring... anyway... in this one I read about a guy and his achievements... blah, blah, blah... but he mentioned he is reading the book that is the reason and title of this post: The Power of Servant Leadership.

Instantly the suggestive title got me into Amazon and I was able to read a little bit about it... here some lines from it I think are worth to share:

"... If a better society is to be built, one more just and one more caring and providing opportunity for people to grow, the most effective and economical way while supportive of the social order, is to raise the performance as servant of as many institutions as possible by new voluntary regenerative forces initiated within them by committed individuals: servants."

"... I have come to believe that a serious lack of vision is a malady of epidemic proportions among the whole gamut of institutions that I know quite intimately: churches, schools, businesses, philanthropies. And that needed vision is not likely to be supplied by the administrative leadership of those places."

"... If there is to be a constant infusion of vision that all viable institutions need, whatever their missions, the most likely source of those visions is their trustees who are involved enough to know, yet detached enough from managerial concern, that their imaginations are relatively unimpaired."

I didn't know there is a lot of information about the concept of Servant Leadership, you might like it as well as this book, unless you are an administrator ;-)

Google bigger plan for Mobile Phones

Google seems to "wanna be" another Cellular Provider? Why is Google trying to buy RF spectrum? What is behind all the following signals?

• Developed Android software for mobile phones.

• Made Google applications -- including email, chat and mapping -- available on cellphones.

• Sells advertisements for certain Web sites accessed by cellphone.

• Enables users to do Web and business searches with cellphone browsers, by text message or with a call.

• Is testing an advanced wireless network at Google headquarters.

• Operates a free Wi-Fi network in Mountain View, Calif.

• Expected to bid for wireless spectrum in a January FCC auction.

Will all these lead to a future national cellular/wireless provider?

Mitsubishi Outlander... Japan, USA or Europe?

Have you ever thought about buying a Mitsubishi? In particular an Outlander? You don't see them very often in the highways or around your city, right?

The Outlander seems to be very popular in Japan, at least according with this note back in 2006: New Mitsubishi Outlander Japan's Best Selling SUV

Basically we have 2 versions: Japan/USA version and Europe version, besides the original concept... here the pictures:

Well, then... why aren't they popular? An answer for the Outlander itself will be hard to guess, but (it has been a long time since I wanted to know this) why Mitsubishi vehicles are not popular in the USA market? I haven't found the answer yet, but I heard Mitsubishi had a bad model in the 80's, when they were starting in the USA market, since then their reputation has been terrible... no matter what!
